SUMMARY:Springtime Birding by Ear: Isabella Lee Natural Preserve with Karen Howe & Matt Griffiths
DESCRIPTION:Trip Difficulty: Moderate. Walk 2-3 miles primarily on dirt paths that are uneven and sandy in places.\nA trip for birders who have some experience birding in the Sonoran Desert and want to practice birding by ear. We’ll explore the mesquite bosque, a once prevalent but now threatened habitat, along the Agua Caliente wash moving slowly to stop and listen closely to the birds.\nWe’ll walk about 2 miles on trails and in washes that are uneven and sandy in places. Bring a sunhat, drinking water and wear sturdy walking shoes.\nMeet in the parking area at the very end of N Bonanza Ave (there are two small parking areas – park in either one). N Bonanza Road is accessed by taking a right turn from E Tanque Verde Rd after The Lakes at Castle Rock community.
