SUMMARY:Desert Meadows Park & Arboretum with Carol Allen-Rasoul
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this trip is free.\nTrip Difficulty: Easy, no elevation. Most of the trail is hard packed dirt with some walking in sandy wash and some small inclines. Walking distance Approx 2 miles. Duration 2 hours. No restrooms available on site. Drinking water is available.\nDesert Meadows is a multi-purpose community botanical garden on 4.2 acres, featuring native and desert-adapted plants. There are various demonstration gardens planted to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. A rainwater harvest garden provides great bird habitat. Artwork is scattered throughout, with gazebos, shady spots with chairs, gliders and other comfortable seats. There is a Labyrinth to explore and an Analemmatic Sundial. There are 126 species on the Bird Checklist, most are our common desert species but surprises are often seen especially in spring. After our walk, stop, relax, enjoy the birds, the quiet, the sunshine and the art work.\nWe will meet at the Labyrinth at 9am, just off La Huerta Rd. Park address is 999 S La Huerta, Green Valley, Az 85614. Please bring binoculars, water, and sun protection. Limited to 10 participants.\nDirections from Tucson: Take I-19 south to Greet Valley Continental Rd exit 63. Exit and turn Left. Drive .25 miles to Abrego Dr, turn left. In 200 yards turn right on La Huerta.\nLeader: Carol Allen-Rasoul\nRegister here beginning Mar 11, 7:00 AM.\n \nHeader Image: Broad-billed Hummingbird by Rhett Herring\n
