SUMMARY:El Aribabi Conservation Ranch, Northern Sonora, Mexico
DESCRIPTION:Trip difficulty: Moderate. We will walk rough trails with little elevation gain, sometimes through water. Birding jaunts will not exceed 2 miles.\nLooking for a low-cost Mexican birding adventure? Join us for a two night stay at El Aribabi Conservation Ranch in the Sky Island region and along the Río Cocóspera, 35 miles south of the border in Sonora, Mexico, where many of the tough to find specialty birds of SE Arizona are much easier to find. We will see and/or hear White-tipped Dove, Violet-crowned Hummingbird, 5-striped Sparrow, Sinaloa Wren, and Buff-collared Nightjar, and more than likely will also find Black-capped Gnatcatcher, Green Kingfisher, Rose-throated Becard, Elegant Trogon, and many more Mexican specialties. Birding and naturalist walks will be conducted along the Río Cocóspera (which is akin to the San Pedro or Santa Cruz rivers) and adjoining areas. Limited to 10 participants. You will need a passport or passport card.\nFor more information on the lodgings, visit elaribabi.com.\nLeaders: Jim Rorabaugh (jrorabaugh@hotmail.com) and Gordon Karre\nTotal Cost: $325/members, $375/non-members\nThis cost includes:\n\nRegistration fee: $150/members, $200/non-members (due at time of registration)\nLodging (double occupancy): $110 (due on site)\nMeals: $65 (due on site)\n\nNot included in the above cost:\n\nRound-trip travel; the group will carpool together from Tucson, so gas costs will be extra\nAdditional food or incidentals\n\n \nHeader Image: Green Kingfisher by Rhett Herring\n
