SUMMARY:Shorebird Migration at Lake Cochise with Scott Crabtree & Andrea Serrano
DESCRIPTION:Trip difficulty: Easy trip with vehicle stops at appropriate locations around the Lake and immediate vicinity. In all likelihood, the day will be hot and sunny with no shade available. Restrooms are only available along the Interstate and in the town of Willcox.\nMigration in July? Yes, migrant shorebirds do start moving in the middle of the boreal summer, and Lake Cochise is an excellent place to find them congregated. We’ll work on identifying shorebirds using a holistic approach, starting with size, shape, and structure, and moving to fine plumage details later. But, overall, we’ll enjoy shorebirds for their exquisite plumage, and the wonders of their biology. Wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for a hot, sunny day. Bring your preferred optics, especially if you have a spotting scope – leaders will have spotting scopes, but the more the better! Wrap up before 11:00 am. Limited to 10 participants.\nLeaders: Scott Crabtree & Andrea Serrano\nRegistration for this walk is $35 for members and $50 for non-members. \n \nHeader Image: American Avocet by Dan Weisz\n
