Limited benches and shade.\nWelcome to Sunday in the Parks! The last Sunday of the month we venture to one of Tucson’s many urban parks to hone our birding skills in a fun and joyful manner. This month we visit Sam Lena Park with access to Kino Environmental Restoration Project (KERP).\nWhen you combined open water, ball fields and distinct habitat (riparian, grassland, mesquite bosque, marsh and upland) you are in for a great day of birding. Come join fellow birders as we explore this southside hotspot known for a variety of birds year-round plus early arrivals to the start of fall migration. This park sports a list of nearly 241 species, so you just might find your next favorite bird.\nThe pace will be relaxed with questions always welcome. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been birding for years, there is always something new to experience. Open to all levels.\nPlan to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your binoculars, hat, water and snacks as needed. Meet in the north parking lot by the bathroom which is accessed from either Ajo Rd or Country Club Rd. Limit 12 participants.\nPlease note monsoon conditions may require changes to our schedule outing.
