SUMMARY:Introduction to Sonoran Desert Birds: Sabino Canyon with Karen Howe
DESCRIPTION:Trip Moderate: Walk 2 – 3 miles primarily on dirt paths that are uneven in places.\nLimited to 10 participants. Binoculars will be provided for those who request them.\nThis trip is intended for people new to birding or for birders from other regions who want to learn some of the common birds in the Sonoran Desert. We’ll practice identifying birds by shape, sound, color, and behavior and will discuss the connections between the birds and the Sonoran Desert Upland habitat in the canyon.\nSabino Canyon requires a National Recreation area parking fee of $8 per car or an Interagency Recreation Pass. Bring a sunhat, drinking water and wear sensible walking shoes. Meet at the Sabino Canyon Overflow Parking lot to explore a less busy section of the canyon. The overflow parking area is accessed by taking Sabino Canyon Road about ¼ mile past the main entrance.
