SUMMARY:Birding by Habitat at Chuck Ford Lakeside Park with Karen Howe and Donito Burgess
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this field trip is free.\nTrip difficulty description: Easy. Walking Distance: 1.5-1.75 miles. Concrete, grass, crushed granite, and paved surfaces.\nCity parks, such as Lakeside Park, typically have a variety of habitats that make for great birding. At this park we’ll explore the connection between birds and their favored habitats including a manmade lake, ball fields, and a mix of native and non-native flora. This eastside hotspot has a variety of birds year-round and sports a list of nearly 230 species. The pace will be relaxed with seating available for breaks or during mini–bird sit moments. Open to all levels. Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your binoculars, hat, water and snacks as needed. Meet in the upper parking lot on the east side of the lake, accessed from S Sarnoff Drive. Limit 12 participants.\nTrip leaders: Donito Burgess and Karen Howe\nHeader Image: Black-crowned Night Heron by David Kreidler\n
