SUMMARY:Sunday in the Parks – Silverlake Park with Andrea Serrano
DESCRIPTION:Sunday in the Parks: Silverlake Park\nRegistration for this walk is free. \nTrip difficulty: Easy. Walking Distance: 1.0-1.5 miles Trip Duration: 2 hours. Ground Condition: Mostly flat surface on grass, paved and dirt pathway with some areas of uneven footing. Ample parking, restroom facilities and benches available at periodic intervals throughout the park. \nWelcome to Sunday in the Parks! The last Sunday of the month we venture to one of Tucson’s many urban parks to hone our birding skills in a fun and joyful manner.\nThis month we visit Silverlake Park. When you combine native flora, soccer and baseball fields you are in for a great day of birding. Come join fellow birders as we explore this south Tucson hotspot known for a wide variety of birds year-round with a history of migrants stopping off. This park sports a list of nearly 139 species, so you just might find your next favorite bird.\nThe pace will be relaxed with seating available for breaks or during mini bird sit moments. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been birding for years, there is always something new to experience.\nOpen to all levels. Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your binoculars, water and snacks as needed.\nMeet in the north parking lot (not baseball field entrance) which is accessed from S Kino Parkway. Limit 12 participants\nHappy Birding,\nAndrea Serrano\nbirdingwithjoy@gmail.com\nPhoto credit: Broad-billed Hummingbird by Greg Lavaty\n
