SUMMARY:Advanced Birding Series: First Signs of Spring with Alex Patia
DESCRIPTION:Sunday, January 18th, 8-10:30 am\n$35/member, $50/non-member.\nTrip difficulty: Easy. Walking distance: About 1.3 miles. Trip Duration: 2-2.5 hours. Elevation gain: None. Ground condition: Groomed gravel trails. Drinking water and restrooms available at the park’s entrance. Benches are available at periodic intervals around the wetlands.\nJanuary may still feel like winter but if you know what to look for the first signs of spring are starting to appear! Displaying male Anna’s Hummingbirds and Vermilion Flycatchers are the most conspicuous but other birds are beginning their spring breeding season preparations as well. Some birds like Great-horned Owls may even already be on nests with eggs! The earliest spring migrants like swallows are starting to arrive and some of our wintering birds are flocking up preparing to head north. This workshop is a great opportunity to learn about phenology and appreciate the changing seasons!\nLimited to 12 participants.
