SUMMARY:Harshaw Creek and Paton Center with Luke Safford
DESCRIPTION:Friday, March 6, 6:30am – 1pm\n$50/member, $100/non-member\nTrip Difficulty: Easy-Moderate. About one mile walking along Harshaw Creek Road mostly on gravel road, and possibly some walking off-road on somewhat uneven ground. Feeder watching and wandering around the Paton Center is easy and accessible with bathroom on-site.\nWe’ll meet in the Tucson area for carpooling at 6:30am to head to Patagonia where we’ll start with birding Harshaw Creek Road. Harshaw Creek is flowing through this section and creates fabulous habitat where we’ll look for wintering birds along with possibly some our first spring migrants. After a couple hours birding this road we’ll switch gears and visit the famous Paton Center for Hummingbirds where we’ll look for three species of hummingbird (Anna’s, Broad- billed, and Violet-crowned) as well as wintering birds like Red-naped Sapsucker and Green-tailed Towhee. We’ll wrap up our birding at the Paton Center about 12pm and head north back to Tucson.
