SUMMARY:Birds and Bikes (and Breakfast!) along the Santa Cruz River Heritage Site with Gary Bachman
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday, June 24th, 6:30 AM\nTrip difficulty: Moderate difficulty – for bicyclists accustomed to riding on a paved trail, in formation.\nTucson water and Pima County Wastewater discharges reclaimed water at four sites along the Santa Cruz River. Where there is water there will be birds. We will ride along the River surveying two of the sites where discharge has lead to habitat restoration in the River bed, located just north of Irvington, and near 17th St. We will also pass by restored Borrowing owl habitat and take ramps from the Loop path down into the riverbed. We see what we can find in the river and along the path.\nRiding the Loop is relatively easy for an experienced rider. This will be a 15 mile ride south from Congress Street to Valencia and back. There may be one or two gravel/sandy crossings of the river.\nBreakfast at Seis after we finish! Also bring an equipped, sturdy bike, helmet and other riding gear.\nLimited to 5 participants.\nMeetup location: The Mercado Parking Lot on Congress St.\nLeader: Gary Bachman\n**Registration for Tucson Bird Alliance Members is free.
