SUMMARY:Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge
DESCRIPTION:Registration fee: $35/member, $50/non-member.*\nTrip difficulty: Moderate, 2-3 miles on uneven, unpaved terrain, little to no elevation gain, bathrooms and water available.\nBANWR offers a wide range of habitats to explore in the winter – restored grasslands, wetlands, and the mixed human habitat around the HQ. Let’s explore the Refuge for winter specialties – sparrows, raptors, maybe even a longspur – and the wetlands for what ducks and grebes they might be holding.\nWe’ll meet at the entrance to the Refuge HQ on S Sasabe Rd / AZ 286. The entrance is about 40 miles south of Three Points, the AZ 86 / 286 intersection. Alternatively, one may get to AZ 286 via Arivaca then south to the entrance. From the entrance, we’ll explore Triangle Pond first, then the HQ proper, and Aguirre Lake.\nBring your optics of choice – there will be a spotting scope available – as well as drinks and snacks. Bring your lunch if the morning goes long – there are picnic tables at the HQ. Final meeting instructions and condition updates will be emailed to participants.\nLeaders: Kirsten Howe and Scott Crabtree\nRegister here beginning on Jan 14, 7 AM.\n*Why does this event cost money? Your generous support helps us to continue to offer an exceptional array of field trips and programming for the community\n \nHeader Image: Northern Harrier by Dan Weisz\n
