March is Hawk Watch month and a great time to brush up on your raptor identification skills! In this workshop we will practice identifying raptors in flight, perched, and at a distance. Species of raptors we could have a chance to study include our resident nesting Red-tailed and Cooper’s Hawks, migrating Common Black Hawks and Turkey Vultures, perhaps a wandering Harris’s Hawk, and falcons like American Kestrel, Peregrine and Prairie Falcon, and Merlin. While birds of prey will be our focus we will take time to admire other bird species as spring migration will be well underway!
Limited to 12 participants. Sweetwater Wetlands is located at 2511 W Sweetwater Dr.
