Bird Sit at Agua Nueva Park with Peggy Steffens
Thursday, March 12th, 10am – 12pm
Trip Difficulty: Easy but need to carry chair about 7 minutes
**You will need to bring a chair and you will need to carry your chair several minutes from where we park the cars into the park.**
Take a break from your busy life with a Bird Sit at Agua Nueva Park (the ponds across the street from Sweetwater Wetlands, formerly known as Roger Road Wastewater Treatment.) A bird sit is like an outdoor meditation with a focus on birds. The benefits include relaxation, quieting the mind and cultivating a deeper connection to the birds. This field trip is not about labeling and listing the birds, but about slowing down and truly observing the birds. You will NEED TO BRING A CHAIR and you will NEED TO CARRY YOUR CHAIR about 7 minutes from where we park the cars into the park. We will start with a guided meditation to awaken your senses. Then we will sit in silence for about 40 minutes and tune into the birds through deeper listening and observation practices. After the bird sit, we will come back together and discuss the experience and learn how to develop a mindful birding practice that will help you fine-tune your birding skills for the future. Come experience birding from a different perspective. Exact directions will be emailed to participants. Due to the mindful nature and amount of time sitting, in the unfortunate event of poor weather, we may cancel this event, therefore you can still sign up for 2 other trips in the month in case we need to cancel. The field trip leader will contact you if we need to cancel. Limited to 12 participants.
