Altar Valley/Old Hayhook Ranch

Registration fee: $35/member, $50/non-member*

Complete Covid-19 vaccination is required as carpooling is necessary.
Trip difficulty: Moderate; Walking Distance: ~3 miles; Trip Duration: return by noonish; Elevation Gain: none; Ground Condition: old road and few trails, some walking through desert scrub. No established restrooms on site.
Another scenic and under-birded area relatively close to Tucson, this retired ranch was originally purchased by Pima County as a conservation offset.  It has a mix of Sonoran and Chihuahuan vegetation which is attractive to a variety of bird species, including Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls, Gilded Flickers, and several species of sparrows.  We’ll explore this area on the west side of the valley, driving in via King Anvil Ranch access and then walking in along an old road.  Wear good walking shoes, and bring a small pack with water and snacks.  Limited to 11 participants.  Instructions for meet-up will be emailed before trip to registered participants.

Cars- Moving Forward Together

Tucson Bird Allaince is able to accept donated vehicles. We use teh proceeds from donated cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, boats, motercycels and even airplanes to help fund our mission. Tucson Bird Allaince partners with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to help run our vehicle donation program. CARS is a nonprofit that has been processing vehicle donations for nonprofits since 2003.
