Carrie Nation Trail with Luke Safford
Friday, May 29: Carrie Nation Trail, 5:30am – 12:00pm
$50/member, $100/non-member
Trip difficulty: Difficult, about four miles total walking on steep, sometimes rocky trail with elevation gain. Plan for heat so carry at least 2 liters of water.
The Carrie Nation Trail is Luke’s favorite trail in the Santa Rita Mountains, but it can be a challenging hike, so please gauge your participation with care! We’ll look and listen for Northern Pygmy-Owl, Elegant Trogon, Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher, Red-faced Warbler, and more in the beautiful and shaded Madrean evergreen forest. Carpooling to location will be arranged among participants and we’ll be meeting in the Green Valley area at 5:30am, and arriving at our birding location about 6am. We’ll plan to arrive back in Green Valley about 12pm. Limited to 8 participants. See trip difficulty and remember to bring water!
