The Search for Green Kingfisher: Clark’s Crossing with Luke Safford

Friday, July 11: The Search for Green Kingfisher: Clark’s Crossing, 7:00am – 11:00am

$35/member, $50/non-member

Trip Difficulty: Moderate – Hard. Trails along the De Anza Trail are generally good condition, but it depends on when summer monsoon rains start. Most likely will be fairly hot and we may go off trail a bit to look for kingfishers. About 3 – 4 miles walking total at a slow birding pace.

Green Kingfishers can be super hard to find because of their ability to hide in unseen pockets along the Santa Cruz River, but they do breed along this stretch in good numbers. We’ll try our best to find these birds but we cannot guarantee it! Other birds we might find include Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Thick-billed Kingbird, Gray Hawk, and Yellow-breasted Chat.

Limited to 8 participants.
