Black Friday Birding at Cochise Lake with Luke Safford
Friday, November 27: 7am – 1pm
$50/member, $100/non-member
Trip difficulty: Moderate. We’ll be walking the dirt roads by the golf course and Cochise Lake. Short walks with no more than .5 mile at one time.
Let’s work off the turkey hangover with some birding! Cochise Lake should be full of waterfowl at this time of year with possibly 10+ species including a big flock of American Wigeon that feed out on the golf course. Maybe we’ll get lucky with an Eurasian Wigeon. Other birds we’ll focus on include Scaled Quail, Virginia Rail, Chestnut-collared Longspur, and Chihuahuan Meadowlark We will plan to meet for carpooling at 7am to arrive at Cochise Lake about 8:30am. We’ll return back into Tucson around 1pm. Limited to 10 participants.
