Trip Difficulty: Moderate, walking 3-4 miles with some elevation gain on established trails
Trip Duration: Return before noon. Carpooling required.
A nice transition of upper Sonoran/Chihuahuan into oak-juniper habitats, we’ll be looking for the results of the monsoon upon a mix of bird life that at times past has included such interesting rarities as Lucifer Hummingbird, Five-striped Sparrow, and Rufous-capped Warbler – who knows what we’ll find this year? We’ll hike up this trail in the state park for ~2 miles and then back, finishing before it gets too hot. Bring comfortable hiking shoes, day pack, water and snacks, sun protection. Walking stick might be useful. No restroom facilities after the trailhead.
Sunrise: 5:28AM
Directions: final meeting instructions by email.
Leader: Tim Helentjaris (tnhelentjaris@msn.com)
