Himmel Park with Catherine Rosenberg

Himmel Park, 1000 N. Tucson Blvd. on Tuesday, January 7th at 8:00 am

Himmel park is located on the east side of Tucson Boulevard, half a block south of Speedway Boulevard. We will meet in front of the wildlife mural. You can’t miss it!

There is 124 unshaded parking spots – so plenty of parking at 8:00 am. Entry to the park is free. Himmel is open 6:00 am to 10:30 pm and there are bathrooms on site. The trip difficulty is easy. We walk mostly on grass. Himmel is about 25 acres, with lots of amenities.

We will bird from 8:00 am to 9:30 or 10:00 am, depending on how the birds cooperate. At 10:00 am please join me for hot mint tea and homemade vegan cornbread (not gluten free). Feel free to bring something to add to our morning picnic if you like.

We will look for: the two Great Horned Owls that live in the park (I will scout out the park ahead of time), Harris, Red-tailed and Cooper’s Hawks, Kestrels, Vermillion Flycatchers, Gila and Ladder-backed Woodpeckers, Lark, Chipping and White-crowned Sparrows, Broad-billed, Anna’s and Costa’s Hummingbirds, a plethora of Western Bluebirds (up to 50), Yellow-rumped Warblers, Dark-eyed Juncos and other local species. On our last outing in Himmel we saw a Ringed-billed gull and had a glimpse of a Red-bellied Woodpecker. Let’s beat the 23 species count from December on the January 7th trip.

Cars- Moving Forward Together

Tucson Bird Allaince is able to accept donated vehicles. We use teh proceeds from donated cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, boats, motercycels and even airplanes to help fund our mission. Tucson Bird Allaince partners with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to help run our vehicle donation program. CARS is a nonprofit that has been processing vehicle donations for nonprofits since 2003.
