Sunday in the Parks – Silverlake Park with Andrea Serrano

Sunday in the Parks: Silverlake Park

Registration for this walk is free.

Trip difficulty: Easy. Walking Distance: 1.0-1.5 miles Trip Duration: 2 hours. Ground Condition: Mostly flat surface on grass, paved and dirt pathway with some areas of uneven footing. Ample parking, restroom facilities and benches available at periodic intervals throughout the park.

Welcome to Sunday in the Parks! The last Sunday of the month we venture to one of Tucson’s many urban parks to hone our birding skills in a fun and joyful manner.

This month we visit Silverlake Park. When you combine native flora, soccer and baseball fields you are in for a great day of birding. Come join fellow birders as we explore this south Tucson hotspot known for a wide variety of birds year-round with a history of migrants stopping off. This park sports a list of nearly 139 species, so you just might find your next favorite bird.

The pace will be relaxed with seating available for breaks or during mini bird sit moments. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been birding for years, there is always something new to experience.

Open to all levels. Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your binoculars, water and snacks as needed.

Meet in the north parking lot (not baseball field entrance) which is accessed from S Kino Parkway. Limit 12 participants

Happy Birding,
Andrea Serrano
