Arizona Trail and Sycamore Reservoir with Luke Safford
Friday, September 19: Arizona Trail and Sycamore Reservoir, 6:00am – 11:00am
$35/member, $50/non-member
Trip Difficulty: Hard. This will be an out and back hike on the undulating Arizona Trail for about 4.7 miles total with 600 foot elevation loss/gain. Bathrooms at Gordon Hirabayashi CG. You’ll need to be able to carry 2 liters of water for hydration on the hike.
This hike is one of Luke’s favorites, especially during fall migration when we could see Olive-sided Flycatcher, Warbling Vireo, and Brewer’s Sparrows along with resident Woodhouse’s Scrub-Jays, Black-chinned Sparrow, and Canyon Towhee. Pay attention to the difficulty level and be mindful that it will still be pretty warm this time of year. We’ll start our hike at the campground at 6am and there will be carpooling available. Limited to 8 participants.
Leader: Luke Safford (lsafford@tucsonbirds.org)
