Sabino Canyon with Cathy Yungbluth and Mark Hengesbaugh

Trip Rating: Easy. Walking Distance: 3 miles.  Elevation Gain: 25 feet. Ground Conditions: Rocky trails and some asphalt road. 

Trip duration: 3 hours

Trip Difficulty: Easy. 3 mile loop on both road and uneven terrain. Elevation gain of ~25 feet. Not considered accessible for mobility devices

Let’s explore the beautiful Sabino Canyon Recreation Area with a focus on finding our resident desert birds and hopefully seeing some seasonal visitors. Although the focus will be on birding, the field trip leaders are also Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists who approach all plant and animal encounters with enthusiasm. The walking loop will include both Sonoran Desert Upland and Sabino Creek riparian area.

Meet by the Visitor’s Center at 5700 N Sabino Canyon Rd.

Requires National Recreation area parking fee of $8 per car or Interagency Recreation Pass. Highly recommend a sunhat, water, snack, and sensible walking shoes. Beginning birders welcome.

Limited to 10 participants.
