Arthur Pack Park & Crooked Tree Golf Course with Ray Deeney

Trip difficulty: Easy; Walking Distance: 2.5 miles; Trip Duration: 2 hr 45 min; Elevation Gain: none; Ground Condition: groomed trail. Drinking water not available on trail. Restrooms at the Mason Center and one restroom midway on the 2.5 mile loop.

Each Fall Crooked Tree Golf Course closes to golfers to reseed the course. We have used this opportunity for the past two years to bird the golfer free course. These walks have been popular and productive, so this year we are offering three walks for the first time. We have seen Clay Colored Sparrow(twice!), Prairie Falcon(twice!), Lawrence’s Goldfinch and Sage Thrasher and many other cool birds. Each walk starts at 7:30 AM and concludes around 10 AM. We meet at the Maeveen Behan trailhead parking lot, near the Crooked Tree maintenance yard, off of the intersection of Thornydale Rd. and Overton Rd. We respect the reseeding process by not walking on any fairways, greens or tee areas. Restrooms and water fountain are available as we walk easy pathways for about one mile.  Maximum of nine participants.
