Meet Howie and Holly, a pair of Western Screech-Owls living in northwest Tucson, Arizona!
Wondering who’s who? Screech-owls are sexually dimorphic in size, so if you spot two adults in the box, the larger one is Holly (the female) and the smaller one is Howie (the male).
These owls use nestboxes year-round for roosting and, in breeding season (February-May), for raising their young. Howie and Holly have called this nestbox home since 2018, and we’ve been lucky enough to follow their story on camera since 2019.
You can catch up on their past adventures on our YouTube channel, and don’t forget to subscribe for new updates! You can also read the blog post about their 2019 nesting adventure here.
This live feed is part of Tucson Bird Alliance’s Desert Nestbox Initiative and is made possible thanks to generous community support.
