Objective:

Join us for Tucson Meet Your Birds, a free, family-friendly celebration of Tucson’s recent designation as part of the Urban Bird Treaty Program! This exciting milestone recognizes our community’s commitment to conserving birds and their habitats while creating opportunities for everyone to connect with nature.

Position Description:

Positions vary. Please view opportunities below.

Floater: 1 volunteer per shift
Time: 1 shift remaining, 7:30-9:30am 
Job Description: These volunteers fill in where needed and give breaks to other volunteers on a 15 min. basis. 

Counter: 1 volunteer per shift 
Time: 3 shifts remaining, 8:30-9:30am, 9:30-10:30am, 10:30-11:30am
Job Description: Using a clicker the volunteer will simply count everyone. The spot for the volunteer will be near the access bridge to the wetlands. When the next shift arrives the counter will note # on clicker, fill in paper created for this purpose, clear clicker and hand over to next volunteer.

Membership: 1 volunteer per shift
Time: 2 shifts, 7:30-9:30am and 9:30-11:30pm
Job Description: Part of the greeting team who will warmly welcome visitors to Sweetwater and help people become members. Set-up near the kiosk and work with Diana Rosenblum. Know where specific tables (i.e. children’s, optics, loaner binos, membership), bathrooms, food trucks, other vendors are located to help visitors find their way around.

Birding Facilitator: 4 volunteers per shift
Time: 2 shifts, 7:30-9:30am and 9:30-11:30pm
Job Description: These volunteers will be situated throughout the wetland and will help visitors view birds and wildlife, answer questions about the wetlands, and advocate for TBA. A scope would be helpful if you have one, if not we can loan one to you. If you are unsure if you “know enough” we can help educate you beforehand! They need to know the birds of Sweetwater; we will provide bird books for guests.

Habitat at Home Table: 1 volunteer per shift
Time: 2 shifts, 7:30-9:30am and 9:30-11:30pm
Job Description: Talk about the Habitat at Home program with attendees.

Kids Activities: 2 volunteers per shift
Time: 2 shifts, 7:30-9:30am and 9:30-11:30pm
Job Description: Set-up at children’s table and help with scavenger hunt and other kids activities. Engage with children and their parents.

Tear Down: 2 volunteers
Time: 11:30-12pm
Job Description: Clean up any trash, help take down tables, chairs, signage, etc. and load into trucks/vans to be transported.

Requirements:

Volunteers must be comfortable engaging with people about birds and have knowledge of Tucson Bird Alliance and its initiatives. Volunteers must be comfortable standing. Some spots may be located with little access to shade. Restrooms and water will be available on sight.

Donate a Vehicle

Cars- Moving Forward Together

Tucson Bird Allaince is able to accept donated vehicles. We use teh proceeds from donated cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, boats, motercycels and even airplanes to help fund our mission. Tucson Bird Allaince partners with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to help run our vehicle donation program. CARS is a nonprofit that has been processing vehicle donations for nonprofits since 2003.

  • Make an outright gift now by recommending a grant to Tucson Bird Alliance.
  • Make recurring gifts with ease so that your contributions can make an immediate difference when needed most.
